Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toliara

The Archdiocese of Toliara (Latin: Archidioecesis Toliaranus ) is a location in Madagascar Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Toliara.

History

The Archdiocese of Toliara was born on April 8, 1957 by Pope Pius XII. built out of territory of the Diocese of Fort -Dauphin as a diocese and the Archdiocese Tulear assumed Tananarive suffragan. On 11 December 1958, the diocese Tulear was the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa is a suffragan. The diocese Tulear was renamed on October 28, 1989 in Diocese of Toliara.

On 3 December 2003, the Diocese of Toliara was elevated to an archdiocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution De universo dominico.
