Roman Catholic Diocese of Morondava

The Diocese of Morondava (Latin: Dioecesis Miarinarivensis ) is a location in Madagascar Roman Catholic diocese based in Morondava.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Morondava on 8 January 1938 cession of territory, the Apostolic Vicariate Fianarantsoa, Mahajanga and Antananarivo.

With the Apostolic Constitution Dum Tantis it was collected on September 14, 1955 Diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa is a suffragan. A part of its territory lost it on April 25, 1960 in favor of the establishment of the diocese Morombe. On 3 December 2003, it was part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Toliara.
