Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Yangon

The Archdiocese of Yangon (Latin: Archidioecesis Yangonensis ) is an Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Yangon ( Rangoon ), Myanmar.

The Archdiocese was on 27 November 1866 as the Apostolic Vicariate of West Burma by Pope Pius IX. based out of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Burma; first bishop was Paul Ambroise Bigandet MEP. In 1870 the name was changed to Vicariate Apostolic of Südbirma (Latin Birmaniae Meridionalis ). By Pope Pius XII. took place on, 1953, the renamed Vicariate Apostolic of Rangoon; on January 1, 1955 was the collection of the Vicariate of the Archdiocese of Yangon. Under Pope John Paul II was renamed the Archdiocese of Yangon.
