Roman Catholic Diocese of Amravati

The Diocese of Amravati (Latin: Dioecesis Amravatensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Amravati.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Cum petierit on May 8, out in 1955 on surrender of territory of the Archdiocese of Nagpur, where there was also a suffragan.

On July 29, 1968, lost parts of its territory to the Apostolic Exarchate of Chanda and on 17 December 1977, to the bishopric of Aurangabad.

The Diocese of Amravati includes the districts located in the state of Maharashtra Amravati, Akola, Buldana and Yavatmal.
