Roman Catholic Diocese of Auckland

The Diocese of Auckland (Latin: Dioecesis Aucopolitanus ) is a location in New Zealand Diocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Auckland.

History

Forerunner of today's diocese Auckland is founded out by Pius VIII of the Apostolic Prefecture of Bourbon on January 10, 1830 Apostolic Prefecture South Sea Islands. The territory of the South Sea Islands Prefecture was divided on 8 June 1833 in the Apostolic Vicariate Ostozeanien and Westozeanien. On August 23, 1842, the Vicariate Westozeanien were parts of its territory from the green alteration of the Apostolic Vicariate Zentralozeanien and changed his name to Apostolic Vicariate of New Zealand. 1844 areas from the Vicariate were outsourced as Apostolic Vicariate of Melanesia and Micronesia Apostolic Prefecture. The Apostolic Vicariate of New Zealand was divided into the Diocese of Auckland and the Diocese of Wellington early on June 20, 1848. The diocese is now a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Wellington.
