History

The Diocese of Aversa was founded in 1053 by Pope Leo IX. built and the Holy See under the direct. In 1566, the Seminary of the Diocese of Aversa was built.

In 1979, the Diocese of Aversa was the archbishopric of Naples a suffragan.
