Roman Catholic Diocese of Barrancabermeja

The Diocese of Barrancabermeja (Latin: Dioecesis Barrancabermeiensis, Spanish: diócesis de Barrancabermeja ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic diocese based in Barrancabermeja.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Territorialprälatur Magdalena River with the Apostolic Constitution Dominici gregis regiminis on April 2, 1928 from annexations of the dioceses of Nueva Pamplona, Santa Marta and Socorro y San Gil. On April 18, 1950, she was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolicis sub Plumbo Apostolic Vicariate.

A part of its territory lost it on 26 October 1962, the Diocese of Ocaña. It was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Divina Christ verba to the diocese and it was the Archdiocese of Nueva Pamplona assumed as suffragan.

A part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Bucaramanga was on 14 December 1974. Another piece of land lost it on 29 March 1984 to the bishopric of La Dorada Guaduas.
