Roman Catholic Diocese of Bunia
The Diocese of Bunia (Latin: Dioecesis Buniaensis ) is a located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic diocese based in Bunia.
History
The Diocese of Bunia was posted on June 27, 1922 by Pope Pius XI. built out of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Northern Victoria Nyanza and Stanley Falls as Apostolic Prefecture Lake Albert. The Apostolic Prefecture Lac Albert was born on December 11, 1933 by Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Lacus Alberti Apostolic Vicariate. On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Lake Albert was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to the diocese and renamed Diocese of Bunia. The Diocese of Bunia was on July 2, 1962 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Mahagi.
The Diocese of Bunia is the Archdiocese of Kisangani is a suffragan.
