Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kisangani
The Archdiocese of Kisangani (Latin: Archidioecesis Kisanganiensis ) is a located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Kisangani.
History
The Archdiocese of Kisangani was established on August 3, 1904 by Pope Pius X. territorial concessions from the Apostolic Vicariate of Léopoldville as Apostolic Prefecture of Stanley Falls. On March 10, 1908, the Apostolic Prefecture was raised Stanley Falls by Pius X. Apostolic Vicariate. The Apostolic Vicariate of Stanley Falls announced on April 9, 1934 parts of its territory establishing the mission sui juris Beni nel Congo Belga from. A further transfer of territory took place on March 10, 1949 establishing the Apostolic Vicariate of Wamba. The Apostolic Vicariate of Stanley Falls was renamed on 10 March 1949 in Apostolic Vicariate of Stanleyville. On 14 June 1951, the Apostolic Vicariate was Stanleyville parts of its territory from establishing the Apostolic Prefecture Isangi. A further transfer of territory took place on April 23, 1956 establishing the Apostolic Vicariate of Kindu.
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Stanleyville was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to an archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Stanleyville was renamed on 30 May 1966 in Archdiocese of Kisangani.
