Roman Catholic Diocese of Dumka
The Diocese of Dumka (Latin: Dioecesis Dumkaensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Dumka.
History
Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Malda with the Apostolic Constitution Tam opportunum on January 17, 1952 from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Dinajpur. With the Apostolic Constitution Exsultat sancta Ecclesia Mater, she was raised on August 8, 1962 Diocese
On 8 June 1978, lost part of its territory to the bishopric of Raiganj. On 27 June 1998, lost part of its territory to the bishopric of Purnea.
Territory
The diocese comprises the districts Dumka Dumka, Sahibganj, Pakur, Deoghar (only the Madhupur Taluk ) in the state of Jharkhand, Purnea, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj in Bihar and the taluk in the district of Birbhum Rampurhat in the state of West Bengal.
