Roman Catholic Diocese of Grand Falls
The Diocese of Grand Falls (Latin: Dioecesis Grandicataractensis ) is a location in Canada Roman Catholic diocese based in Grand Falls -Windsor.
History
The Diocese of Grand Falls was born on February 29, 1856 by Pope Pius IX. out of territory of the Diocese of Newfoundland erected as Diocese of Harbour Grace. It was the Archdiocese of Saint John's, Newfoundland, is a suffragan. The Diocese of Harbour Grace announced on July 13, 1945 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate of Labrador. On February 22, 1958, the Diocese of Harbour Grace was renamed Falls in the diocese of Harbour Grace -Grand. The Diocese of Harbour Grace- Grand Falls was renamed in Diocese of Grand Falls on October 30, 1964.
