Martin William Currie

Martin William Currie ( born December 11, 1943 in Marinette ) is Archbishop of Saint John's, Newfoundland.

Life

Martin William Currie received on 10 June 1967, the ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 12 December 2000 as Bishop of Grand Falls. The Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, Paolo Romeo, gave him on 31 January of the next year, the episcopal ordination; Terrence Thomas Prendergast co-consecrators were SJ, Archbishop of Halifax, and Raymond John Lahey, Bishop of Saint George's. As a motto he chose Dominus fortitudo sperantium.

On 9 September 2006, he was appointed Diocesan Administrator of Saint John, New Brunswick. From his position as Apostolic Administrator of Saint John, New Brunswick, he resigned on May 8, 2007. On 18 October 2007 he was appointed Archbishop of Saint John's, Newfoundland and introduced into the office on 30 November of the same year. From his office as Bishop of Grand Falls, he resigned on March 1, 2011.
