Roman Catholic Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador

The Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador (Latin: Dioecesis Rivuli angularis et Terrae Laboratoriae ) is a location in Canada Roman Catholic diocese based in Corner Brook.

History

The Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador was posted on May 9, 1870 by Pope Pius IX. out of territory of the Diocese of Saint John's, Newfoundland established as Apostolic Prefecture of Western Newfoundland. The Prefecture Apostolic of Western Newfoundland was posted on April 28, 1892 by Pope Leo XIII. elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate. On 18 February 1904, the Vicariate Apostolic of Western Newfoundland was elevated by Pope Pius X to the diocese and renamed the Diocese of Saint George's. It was the Archdiocese of Saint John's, Newfoundland, is a suffragan. On 31 May 2007, the diocese of St. George's, the Labrador Territory, which belonged to the Diocese of Labrador City - resolution Schefferville, affiliated. In addition, the Diocese of St. George's was renamed the Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador.
