Roman Catholic Diocese of Jiaying

The Diocese of Meixian (Latin: Dioecesis Chiaimensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Meizhou in the People's Republic of China.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded with the Breve Pastorale officium the Apostolic Prefecture Kaying on February 20, 1929 from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Shantou. The pastoral care and mission was entrusted to the Maryknoll missionary order.

On June 18, 1935, she was charged with the Bull Etsi inter to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate. With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised on April 11, 1946 Diocese.

The official bishop of the diocese was 1988-2000 Monsignor Anthony Zhong Quanzhang. He was followed by Liao Hongqing after, appointed by the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association and was also recognized by the Holy See.
