Roman Catholic Diocese of Kamina

The Diocese of Kamina (Latin: Dioecesis Kaminaensis ) is a located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic diocese based in Kamina.

History

The Diocese of Kamina was born on July 18, 1922 by Pope Pius XI. built out of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Kasai Superiore as Apostolic Prefecture Lulua e Katanga Centrale. On 26 February 1934, the Apostolic Prefecture Lulua e Katanga gave Centrale parts of their territory from establishing the Apostolic Vicariate Boma. The Apostolic Prefecture Lulua e Katanga was posted on February 26, 1934 by Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Libenti animo elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate. On July 8, 1948, the Apostolic Vicariate Lulua e Katanga gave Centrale parts of its territory from establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Lac Moero. The Apostolic Vicariate Lulua e Katanga Centrale was renamed on July 8, 1948 in Apostolic Vicariate Lulua.

On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Lulua was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to the diocese and renamed Diocese of Kamina. It was the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi is a suffragan. The Diocese of Kamina was on March 11, 1971 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Kolwezi.
