Roman Catholic Diocese of Kaohsiung
The Diocese of Kaohsiung (Latin: Dioecesis Kaohsiungensis, Chinese:天主教 高雄 教区) is a located in the Republic of China on Taiwan Roman Catholic diocese based in Kaohsiung.
History
The Diocese of Kaohsiung was established on July 13, 1913 by Pope Pius X as Apostolic Prefecture of Formosa. The Apostolic Prefecture was renamed Formosa on December 30, 1949 in Apostolic Prefecture of Kaohsiung.
On March 21, 1961, the Apostolic Prefecture of Kaohsiung was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quoniam secundum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Taipei is a suffragan.
