Roman Catholic Diocese of Hwalien

The Diocese of Hualien (Latin Dioecesis Hvalienensis ) is a diocese located in the Republic of China to the Roman Catholic church located in Hualian. It comprises the eastern part of Taiwan and mainly consists of the counties of Hualian and Taidong.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Hwalien with the Apostolic Constitution Ad Regnum Christi on August 7, 1952 from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Kaohsiung and the Apostolic Taipei Prefecture.

On 1 March 1963 she was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolic praefectura to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Taipei was assumed as suffragan.
