Roman Catholic Diocese of Keimoes–Upington

The diocese Keimoes - Upington (Latin: Dioecesis Keimoesanus - Upingtonensis ) is a location in South Africa, Roman Catholic Diocese based in Keimoes.

History

The diocese Keimoes - Upington was on 20 June in 1885 by Pope Leo XIII. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Prefecture built Cape of Good Hope as Apostolic Prefecture of the Orange River. On May 2, 1898, the Apostolic Prefecture Orange River was by Leo XIII. elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate. The Apostolic Vicariate of Orange River announced on July 7, 1909 from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture wholesale Namaqualand. On 9 July 1940, the Vicariate Apostolic of Orange River was renamed the Vicariate Apostolic Keimoes.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Keimoes was posted on January 11, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. applicable to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Bloemfontein is a suffragan. The diocese Keimoes was renamed on February 8, 1985 in the diocese of Keimoes - Upington.
