Roman Catholic Diocese of Kongolo
The diocese of Kongolo (Latin: Dioecesis Kongoloensis ) is a location in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic diocese based in Kongolo.
History
The diocese of Kongolo was built at June 30, 1911 by Pope Pius X from the Apostolic Vicariate of Léopoldville territorial concessions as Apostolic Prefecture of North Katanga. The Prefecture Apostolic of North Katanga was posted on June 18, 1935 by Pope Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Digna sane Apostolic Vicariate. On March 8, 1951, the Apostolic Vicariate of North Katanga was renamed Vicariate Apostolic Kongolo. The Apostolic Vicariate of Kongolo announced on April 23, 1956 from parts of its territory to the creation of the Vicariate Apostolic of Kindu.
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Kongolo was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi is a suffragan. The diocese of Kongolo announced on 24 April 1971 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Manono.
