Roman Catholic Diocese of Loja

The Diocese of Loja (Latin: Dioecesis Loianus, Spanish: diócesis de Loja ) is a located in Ecuador Roman Catholic diocese based in Loja.

History

The Diocese of Loja was born on December 29, 1862 by Pope Pius IX. built out of territory of the diocese of Cuenca. It was the Archdiocese of Cuenca is a suffragan. On 26 July 1954, the Diocese of Loja were from parts of its territory establishing the Territorialprälatur El Oro.
