Roman Catholic Diocese of Machala

The Diocese of Machala (Latin: Dioecesis Machalensis, Spanish: diócesis de Machala ) is a located in Ecuador Roman Catholic diocese based in Machala. It includes the province of El Oro.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded on 26 July 1954, the Territorialprälatur El Oro annexations of the dioceses Guayaquil and Loja and the Archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba was a suffragan.

With the Apostolic Constitution Venerable Fratris it was on September 11, 1961 part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Quito. On 31 January 1969, was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quem admodum to the diocese and adopted its current name.
