The Diocese of Muzaffarpur (Latin: Dioecesis Muzaffarpurensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Muzaffarpur.
History
The Diocese of Muzaffarpur was established on 6 March 1980 by Pope John Paul II made cessions of territory of the Diocese of Patna. First bishop was the Jesuit John Baptist Thakur. On 27 June 1998, the Diocese of Muzaffarpur were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Bettiah. The Diocese of Muzaffarpur is the Archdiocese of Patna is a suffragan.
Territory
The diocese comprises the districts of Muzaffarpur Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Begusarai, Madhepura, Khagaria and Supaul in Bihar.
