Roman Catholic Diocese of Bettiah

The Diocese of Bettiah (Latin: Dioecesis Bettiahensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Bettiah.

History

The Diocese of Bettiah in 1892 by Pope Leo XIII. out of territory of the Diocese of Allahabad established as Apostolic Prefecture of Bettiah. The Apostolic Prefecture of Bettiah was dissolved in 1918 and the territory was ceded to the Apostolic Vicariate of Patna.

On 27 June 1998, the former Vicariate Apostolic of Bettiah from ceding of territories of the Diocese of Muzaffarpur was established as a diocese Bettiah again. It was the Archdiocese of Patna is a suffragan.

Territory

The Diocese of Bettiah comprises the districts of Gopalganj, Pashchim Champaran, Purba Champaran, Saran and Siwan in Bihar.
