Roman Catholic Diocese of Ningbo

The Diocese of Ningpo (Latin: Dioecesis Nimpuovensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Ningbo in Zhejiang Province in the People's Republic of China.

History

The diocese was established in 1687 Ningpo as Apostolic Vicariate of Zhejiang and Jiangxi from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Fujian. Pope Innocent XII. founded with the Breve E sublimi Sedis the Apostolic Vicariate of Jiangxi from parts of the territory of the vicariate on 15 October to 1696. Between 1838 and 1846 the Vicariate Apostolic of Jiangxi was again part of the Vicariate Apostolic of Zhejiang, which again changed its name to Apostolic Vicariate of Zhejiang and Jiangxi with the result.

On 10 May 1910, the Apostolic Vicariate of Zhejiang was divided into the Apostolic Vicariate Ostzhejiang and Westzhejiang. The name, Apostolic Vicariate of Ningbo, took the Apostolic Vicariate Ostzhejiang on December 3, 1924. With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised on April 11, 1946 Diocese.

After the expulsion of Bishop Defebvres from the diocese in 1950, the Apostolic Administrator Michel He Jin - min administered the diocese, who was interned in 1958 in a re-education camp. In 1960, the official bishop Qishu Shu was ordained, administered the diocese until his death in 1983. At this time his duties as Apostolic Administrator until 15 May 2000, Michael He Jin -min, who had been dismissed from the 1977 re-education camp, back to when he was ordained to the official bishop of the diocese without the permission of the Holy See. In 2004, he was succeeded by Matthieu Hu Xiande.
