History

The Diocese of San Benedetto del Tronto Ripatransone -Montalto was established on August 1, 1571 by Pope Pius V with the Apostolic Constitution Illius fulciti out of territory of the diocese of Fermo as Ripatransone diocese and the Holy See under the direct authority.

The diocese Ripatransone was renamed on April 7, 1983 in the diocese of Ripatransone - San Benedetto del Tronto.
