Roman Catholic Diocese of Žilina

The Diocese of Žilina (Latin: Dioecesis Žilinensis; Slovak:: Žilinská diecéza. ) Is a Roman Catholic diocese in the north- west of Slovakia Žilina-based.

History

The diocese was erected from the northern parts of the Diocese of Nitra and from the areas around the town of Martin, who were previously part of the Diocese of Banská Bystrica on 14 February 2008.

Bishop

  • Tomáš Galis ( born December 22, 1950 in Sedlice ) He was ordained a priest on June 6, 1976, was appointed Titular Bishop of Bita 1999 and Auxiliary Bishop of Banská Bystrica on August 28th, consecrated on 25 September 1999, on 14 February 2008 Bishop of Žilina.
