Román Fresnedo Siri

Román Fresnedo Siri ( born February 4, 1903 in Salto, † June 26, 1975 Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan architect.

He graduated at the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de la República. Fresnedo Siri won the competition for the construction of the building in which the seat of the Pan American Health Organization ( PAHO ) in Washington, DC ( opened in 1965 ) is housed. He also was responsible for the seat of the UTE ( Arroyo Seco, Montevideo) serving Palacio de la Luz, which was projected in 1948 and opened in 1951. After he won the competition to build upstream of the Jockey Club of Porto Alegre, he designed, moreover the Hipódromo do Cristal in Porto Alegre. The located in Jacinto Vera, inaugurated on July 15, 1967 Luis Batlle Berres monument to also be traced back to him.

His other works include:

  • The grandstands Folle Ylla (1938 ) and Local Tribuna (1945 ) in Hipódromo de Maroñas in Montevideo
  • In 1947 opened building of the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de la República in Montevideo (in collaboration with Mario Muccinelli )
  • The Sanatorio Americano in Parque Batlle
