Roman Sołtyk

Roman Count of Sołtyk (* 1791 in Warsaw, † October 22, 1843 in St. Germain en Laye ) was a Polish general.

He was the son of the Reichstag Marshal Stanisław Sołtyk and Princess Karoline Sapieha, the polytechnic school attended in Paris, joined in 1807 as a lieutenant in the foot artillery of the former Grand Duchy of Warsaw and in 1809 took its successful defense against an attack Austria's part.

1812 appointed as adjutant of General Michal Sokol Nicki in the General Staff of Napoleon I, he commanded in the Battle of Leipzig, Sachsen and came through their transition into captivity by the Allies. Free again, he left the military service and opened an iron magazine in Warsaw. Since 1822, he participated in the secret political societies.

After the outbreak of the revolution of 29 November 1830 he went to Warsaw, was General Commander of four lying on the right bank of the Vistula provinces, here organized 47,000 man mobile National Guards and applied to the Reichstag, the deposition of the Emperor Nicholas and the declaration of the sovereignty of the people (21 January 1831).
