Rome (Album)

Rome is an album by Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi from the year 2011. Stylistically Rome is often associated with alternative rock, but it is above all a tribute to the soundtracks of spaghetti westerns from the 60s and 70s.

Authorship, recording and publication

All songs were composed to Rome by Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi, arranged and produced. Sound engineer was Fabio Patrignani. The recordings for the album took a total of five years. The following musicians were involved:

Rome was published in 2011 by the Parlophone label, it was released on LP, CD and download. And The Rose with a Broken Neck ( B-side: Season 's Trees ): As Singles Two Against One ( Black B- side) were released.

Musical concept

Danger Mouse and Daniele were inspired to Luppi Rome from the spaghetti westerns of the 60s and 70s. In particular, the soundtracks of Ennio Morricone for films such as Play me the song of death and Bad and the Ugly, they took as a model. Some of the musicians involved in these soundtracks such as Alessandro Alessandroni and Edda Dell ' are to listen even to Rome. The recordings took place in the Forum Music Village in Rome instead, a studio which was co-founded by Ennio Morricone. Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi organized contemporary instruments for this recording.

Daniele Luppi said to his enthusiasm for spaghetti western soundtracks: "I was exposed to them since my early childhood. The television showed every weekend spaghetti western. Guest appearances

In Rome Jack White and Norah Jones can be heard as a guest musician. White sings on three songs, for which he also wrote the lyrics. Jones also sings on three songs, their lyrics wrote Danger Mouse. The reviews have been mixed about Rome. The music database Allmusic leads it with three and a half out of five stars. Even the music magazine Rolling Stone awarded three and a half stars out of five. The music critic of The Guardian criticized the fact that the album lacked the eccentric of the recordings by Ennio Morricone.
