Romilly-sur-Seine
Romilly- sur -Seine is a commune with 13,673 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Aube department in the Champagne- Ardenne region. It belongs to the district of Nogent -sur -Seine. The city lies partly in Canton Romilly- sur -Seine -1 and partly in Canton Romilly- sur -Seine -2. Romilly- sur -Seine is located on the Seine, on the border with the department of Marne.
History
The present town dates back to Gallo-Roman settlement. During the 12th century a Cistercian monastery was founded here in the Seine Valley. 1163 the village was first mentioned as Romeliacum. It is a toponym that was the residence of a Romilius. During the French Revolution the name of the place Romilly- Voltaire was.

The train station of Romilly- sur -Seine is located on the railway line Paris -Mulhouse, which is not electrified here.
