Ron Korb

Ron Korb is a Canadian flautist of the New Age and world music. He is also a composer and music producer. His residence is Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He plays many different flute instruments from all over the Far and studied many issues, both from classical, jazz and Celtic and South American and Asian music as well as sounds and rhythms of the Middle East.

Life

Bin musical education started in elementary school with a recorder; In his youth he joined an Irish marching band. During the visit of the Royal Conservatory of Music Basket has won several local music competitions. He later attended the University of York for a year to expand its jazz experience. He received a scholarship for classical flute at the University of Toronto, where he quit his studies as a performer with distinction. His principal was Professor Douglas Stewart. In addition took basket at master classes, Robert Aitken in Shawnigan, Raymond Guiot in Domaine Forget in, with Michel Debost in Assisi and Severino Gazzelloni in Siena in Italy. Therefore, he moved to Japan to study the Japanese Gagaku court music and the traditional Shinobue and Ryūteki bamboo flutes with Michiko Akao. Since then he has when visiting foreign countries in search of traditional music and instruments. He now has a collection of more than 200 flutes from around the world.

Basket has published over 30 solo recordings in 20 countries with various music publishers. He has also worked on recordings by many well known artists such as Olivia Newton-John, Liona Boyd, Mychael Danna, Jim McCarty, Renaissance ( band) and at the World Youth Day shooting of Pope John Paul II. As a studio musician, he has been involved in film and television productions. He has played in many with Gemini or genius excellent and award-winning at the International Film Festival of Cannes projects. He has also played in Oscar - nominated films by directors such as Ang Lee, Atom Egoyan, John Woo and Mira Nair. In Robert Lepage 's film "No" played basket Nokan the front of the camera in the first scene, in traditional Kimono dress.

Basket has occurred on all five continents and has given to prominent places concerts, such as the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, at Glastonbury Festival in England, the National Theater of Panama, the Heian Jingü in Kyoto Japan, Zhong Shan Hall in Formosa, the Shanghai International Music Festival, the Century Theatre in Beijing and the Sun Yat- sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou China. He has also represented Canada at Expo 2005 in Nagoya, Japan. In addition, he served as the opening act for Cesaria Evora and with the singer Dadawa on tour in China and Canada.

2008 Basket was asked to put together a textbook with flute and piano pieces that put the Australian Music Examination Board for Flute to the curriculum.

Compositions

Basket composed a culturally diverse music. Many of his songs are based on stories. These in turn were accessible to him by exploring his multi - cultural background and his extensive travel experiences. In addition to his instrumental pieces Ron Korb has also written songs for major Asian singers. His song for Alan Tam ( Chin :谭咏麟) reached double platinum sales. Another song for the " Godfather of Cantopop " Roman Tam ( Chin :罗文) won for best original composition in the awards of RTHK, Hong Kong's equivalent of the Grammy. Basket also has a song for the Olympics written, for which Toronto had advertised. This composition was performed by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Basket also composed music for film, dance and theater.
