Career as a player

Levy began playing football at the age of seven years at Maccabi Netanya in his hometown. In 1985, he moved up to the squad for the first team, which at that time was represented in the Ligat ha Al, the top division of Israel. In the season 1987/88 he was able to win with his team the runner-up behind Hapoel Tel Aviv. For the second half of the season 1989/90 Levy left Netanya, after his team had failed to qualify for the Masters round, and joined Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv. With his new team, he won the first championship for Bnei Yehuda. In the summer of 1990 he returned to Netanya.

In the summer of 1992, Levy left Maccabi Netanya again and hired the top club Maccabi Haifa. With his new team, he won the Israeli Cup in 1993. In the subsequent European Cup Winners' Cup, the team moved to victories over F91 Dudelange and Torpedo Moscow in the second round, where it was defeated by eventual finalists AC Parma on penalties. At the end of the season Leya won his second championship with Maccabi. In qualifying for the Champions League, however, Maccabi defeated the SV Austria Salzburg. After two runner-up in 1995 and 1996 and another Cup victory in 1995, Levy ended his career in the summer of 1997.

National

Levy denied between 1993 and 1995 a total of 16 games for the Israeli national team. He made his debut on 22 September 1993 in a friendly against Romania. His last international game he played on 16 August 1995 against Hungary.

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career Levy worked as a youth coach of his former club Maccabi Haifa. Having already helped out in 2000 as an interim coach, he was the start of the 2003/04 season head coach of Maccabi. He won from 2004 to 2006 three championships in a row. However, to reach the group stage of the UEFA Champions League was denied him. After missing championship in 2008, the paths of Levy and Maccabi parted. The end of 2008 he took over the league rivals Maccabi Petach Tikva. Less than a year later, he was released there in November 2009.

Levy left Israel in early January 2010 and was head coach of the reigning Romanian champion Unirea Urziceni. This he led to the runner-up in 2010. After he had started badly with his team in the 2010/11 season and failed to qualify for the Champions League, the club parted from him in August 2010. He returned to Israel and hired in January 2011 at the relegation-threatened Beitar Jerusalem. After relegation in the relegation round mid-June 2011 took him to the Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest under contract. On 29 September 2011 he was released after five games without a win and replaced by Ilie Stan. A day later, he became head coach of Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus.
