Ilie " Iliesta " Stan ( born October 17, 1967 in Pogoanele, Buzău county ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. As a player, he played 308 games in the Romanian Divizia A, the Belgian Eerste Klasse, the Cypriot First Division and the Israeli Ligat ha Al. Since 2013 he is as a coach with the Romanian first division club FC Braşov under contract.

Career as a player

Stan began his career at Gloria Buzău, where he aufrückte in 1985 into the first team and on 27 October 1985, his first appearance in Divizia A. When Gloria, he was first-team regular, could not avoid relegation at the end of the season 1986/87. He left the club during the winter break and signed on 4 January 1988 a contract with the record champions Steaua Bucharest. There he came in the season 1987/88 hardly used and contributed with two inserts only a small part on winning the championship at. In the following two seasons, he was frequently used. In winning the Cup Finals 1989 came to a short-term use.

The breakthrough Stan, as after the Romanian revolution, the best players left the country and joined Western European top clubs. He stayed with Steaua and rose to the top scorer. With 20 meetings in the 1992/93 season he managed the best yield of his career, which was surpassed only by his teammate Ilie Dumitrescu. During this time he won the championship three times in the years 1993, 1994 and 1995.

In summer 1995, Stan left his homeland and moved to Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Eerste Klasse. There he was in the first year his goalscoring not prove and closed the season on a place in midfield from. In the following season, he stood with his team on the bottom of the table when he left during the winter break Belgium and returned to Steaua. There he could win the Romanian championship again, but left the club in the summer of 1997, when he moved to local rivals FC Naţional. Two months later, he moved to AEL Limassol in Cyprus.

Although regular players, was the season in Limassol for Stan unsatisfactory because only jumped out of a place in midfield. In the summer of 1998 the club left and went to Hapoel Petach Tikva Israel. A year later, he moved there to the second division Hapoel Holon Tsafririm, where he finished his career in 2000.

National

Stan came up with three brief appearances for the Romanian national team. He made his debut on 26 August 1992, in a friendly against Mexico when he came on in the 74th minute for Ovidiu Cornel Hanganu. His last two matches he played in February 1994 during two friendlies against the United States and South Korea.

Career as a coach

After his playing career, Stan initially worked from 2001 to 2002 as assistant coach Anghel Iordănescu at Al Ain Club in the United Arab Emirates and was from February 2002 to July 2002 the assistant coach for the Romanian national team. Then he accompanied Grigore Sichitiu as an assistant coach to Al Shabab in the United Arab Emirates. In 2003 he was Shihab bin Tariq, owner of Al- Seeb Club in Oman recommended, who entrusted him the office of the head coach.

On 3 March 2004 brought him the Bucharest businessman Marius Locic as coach UTA Arad, which was relegated in season 2003/ 04 from the Divizia A and stood on a promising position in the table. With Ilie Stan the Arad missed the resurgence and the coach ended his engagement in June 2004, after the new investor Ion Sandu had refused further cooperation with him. Then signed Stan on 22 July 2004 again a contract as an assistant coach Anghel Iordănescu with the Romanian national team. In November 2004, the coaching staff was dismissed and Ilie Stan followed Iordănescu as an assistant coach for Al -Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, where he had signed in March 2005. In 2006, the coaching team at Al -Ittihad was dismissed.

In October 2006, Stan took over the coaching job at FCM Targoviste in the Liga II, where he was made redundant at the end of the first round in November 2006 after five games. At the beginning of the season 2007/ 08 he was responsible for a game his former club Gloria Buzău after it had separated from Viorel Ion. The rest of the season, he was head coach of Dunărea Giurgiu in the League II

His biggest success as a coach Stan celebrated as head coach of FC Victoria Brăneşti. After he took over the club in 2008 in the League III, he brought him with two series rise in the House of Lords. In view of the impending descent he broke on April 19, 2011 on his contract in Brăneşti. In August 2011, he took over the upstart CS Mioveni in Liga 1, but has already appeared a month later because of disagreements with the club's back. On 30 September 2011 he succeeded Ronny Levy as head coach of Steaua Bucharest, his office was, however, on March 27, 2012 and was replaced by Mihai Stoichiţă. On May 22, 2012, he signed a contract with CS Concordia Chiajna, with whom he sporty relegation at the end of the 2012/13 season. Even before the league was announced on account of the forced descent from Rapid Bucharest, Stan decided to become involved with FC Vaslui, where he died on June 20, 2013 four days before retiring Gavril Balint replaced. But already after two days of the season 2013/14 he gave his office on August 2, 2013 again. On November 4, 2013 Ilie Stan Alexandru Pelici superseded as coach of FC Braşov.
