Pogoanele
Pogoanele is a town in the Buzău in Romania.
Location
Pogoanele is located in a fairly sparsely populated area of the Wallachian plains at the edge of Bărăgan - steppe. The county seat of Buzău is located about 30 km north-west.
History
1907 Pogoanele was affected by the peasant uprising in Romania. In 1944, in the immediate vicinity of the place to fighting between German and Romanian troops. 1989 Pogoanele was declared a city. The main industries are agriculture and food processing.
Population
1930, Pogoanele about 7,000 residents. As of the 2002 census, 7,795 people were registered in the city Pogoanele, including about 5,700 in the city proper, the others in eingemeindeten place Căldărăşti. 7,711 were Romanians and 182 Roma.
Traffic
Pogoanele is located on the railway line from Urziceni after faurei. In both directions there are currently (2009) a day for about four compounds; some trains through to Bucharest or after Galaţi. Through the city along the national road 2C Slobozia leads to Buzău.
