Slobozia

Slobozia [ slobozja ] ( German outdated: Freistadt) is a city in Romania and the county capital of Ialomiţa.

They had about 52,600 inhabitants in 2003 and is located approximately in the center of the circle in the Bărăgan level, which is one of the climatically warmest areas of Romania.

History

The town developed from and in the area of the former village Vaideei. The name means something like " Have pity you them " ( " vai de ei" ). The name Slobozia comes from the Slavic word " Slobod " and means "freedom." Since the city is located in a flat plane, it was compared with penetration of Tatars and Ottomans defenseless. to encourage farmers to settle in Slobozia them some taxes were enacted, hence the name "freedom."

Attractions

  • As part of a private amusement park, a 54 -foot replica of the Eiffel Tower was built by a millionaire. Also, a replica of the so-called Southfork Ranch from the American television series Dallas is there to see.
