Cornel Cernea

Cornel Cernea ( born April 22, 1976 in Slobozia, Circle Ialomiţa ) is a former Romanian football player. The goalkeeper played a total of 121 games in the Romanian League 1 In 2006 he won with Steaua Bucharest, the Romanian championship.

Career

The career of Cornel Cernea began at Minerul Motro, where he was since the beginning of 1997 in the second- highest Romanian league, the Divizia B (now League II) under contract. There he came as a substitute goalkeeper but rarely used. After a brief spell at his former club Griviţa Bucharest oblige him in the winter break 1999/2000 Petrolul Ploiesti, the (now League I ) played into the Divizia A. There he came more frequently indeed from the season 2000/ 01 for use, but could not establish a longer period as the number 1 is.

During his time at Petrolul Cernea dismounted in 2002 from the Divizia A. After chances of promotion, he left the club in 2003 to switch to Oţelul Galaţi. With Oţelul he was able to reach the cup final in 2004, where he lost to Dinamo Bucharest. Nevertheless, the club reached the qualification for the European Cup.

In 2005 lent itself to Cernea the possibility to switch to a Romanian giants by Steaua Bucharest joined. There, however, he seldom came with the exception of the 2006/ 07 used, so that he had only a small share of the championship in 2006. After four years he left Steaua and changed in 2009 to Unirea Alba Iulia, which had just gained in the League 1. After the descent at the end of the season 2009/10 he moved again to a promoted team - this time to Victoria Brăneşti.

After two months, he left Victoria again and plays since September 2010 for the Premier League rivals Unirea Urziceni. With his new club, he rose at the end of 2010/ 11 in the Liga II from. Since Unirea had dissolved in June 2011, he moved to Farul Constanta in the League II, where he ended his active career in late 2011.
