Rosa Luxemburg Foundation

The Rosa Luxembourg Foundation Social Analysis and Political Education Association ( RLS ) is a German, party-affiliated foundation of The Left party with the registered office in Berlin. As is the case with most of the other party-affiliated foundations, but does not has the legal form of a foundation, but as a registered association. It is named after the politician and writer Rosa Luxembourg. Your objective is civic education.

History

The club was founded in 1990 out of the club Social Analysis and Political Education forth eV and two years later was recognized by the PDS as a party near, nation-wide club. As part of a composite foundation he co-operates in Germany with associations and state foundations that are close to the political left.

The RLS participated in several international events such as the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre in 2001 and the European Social Forum in Paris in 2003 in part.

Commitment

The Rosa Luxembourg Foundation is committed to the Democratic Socialism connected and supports many projects, issues publications and organizes exhibitions. With about sixty employees and many volunteers, the association supports charitable purposes such as the promotion of civic education and science, art and culture, and international understanding. About her work study awards the RLS scholarships to students and doctoral candidates. RLS is financed from the federal budget as well as through membership fees and donations.

The association acts since 1990 as editor of the Marx- Engels -Werke when Karl Dietz Verlag Berlin. Since 2009, published by the Foundation magazine Luxembourg appears in the VSA -Verlag.

Organization

The supreme body is the general meeting of the Foundation. This selects every four years, the board of the meeting. On 1 December 2012 Dagmar grandson man was appointed chairman. It is still in Brussels, New York City, Johannesburg, Dakar, Dar-Es- Salaam, Hanoi, Moscow, Beijing, Warsaw, New Delhi and Belgrade with regional offices on site. In October 2012 an office was opened in Athens. The Foundation is also a corresponding member of the German Commission for UNESCO.

Institute for Social Analysis

The foundation associated with the Institute for Social Analysis ( IFG ). This has 15 employees and five freelancers. The work is done in cooperation with the Scientific Advisory Board of the Foundation. Mario Candeias is since 2013, the Director of the Institute. His predecessor, Michael Brie. The Rosa Luxembourg Foundation cooperates in a trust association with several regional foundations in the individual federal states.
