Rosh Pinah is a mining town in southern Namibia private with around 2500 inhabitants - Other sources speak of up to 15,000 - and is located about 100 km northeast of Oranjemund and 200 km southwest of Keetmanshoop. The city is part of the constituency Oranjemund in the region ǁ Karas. The main industry form the licenses of six existing mines for the mining of zinc and lead, in particular, the scorpion - zinc mine.

The city is located about 20 km north of the Orange River in the so-called Gariepgürtel, between the diamond area in the west and the Huns Mountains in the west. Rosh Pinah has over Witputz road links to the northerly B4 national road and a road along the Orange to Oranjemund and Noordoewer.

Since February 15, 2011 Rosh Pinah has its own police station.

History

The geologist Michael McMillan discovered in the geological mapping of the area in 1963 sulphide deposits and five years later, in 1967, construction finally began in 1969 and the operation of the first mine. The first miners were Iscor in South Africa and Moly Copper Mining Company of the Jewish industrialist Mosi Eli Kehan ​​which gave the place even his Hebrew name (see Rosh Pina ).

Since 2001, sought the RoshSkor Township Pty Ltd.. to the proclamation of Rosh Pinah as a city and the attendant opportunities for development and acquisition of land. In January 2011, the proclamation was still open.
