Rosie O'Donnell

Roseann O'Donnell ( born March 21, 1962 in Commack, Long Iceland, NY, USA) is an American actress, presenter and television producer.

Childhood and youth

O'Donnell is one of five children in an Irish -born family. Her brother is the politician Daniel J. O'Donnell. Her mother died when she was ten years old, she spent her childhood, by its own account, mostly watching TV. This should affect her career strong. After her high school graduation, she began studying at Boston University, which, however, dropped out after a year.

Career

1996 O'Donnell got her own talk show entitled The Rosie O'Donnell Show, in which she famous guest stars such as George Clooney welcomed original. In the 348th show, first broadcast on 25 February 1998, she played along with Chaka Khan drums. The show ran until 2002.

In addition to her show career she appeared in movies and played among other things, a supporting role in Sleepless in Seattle with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.Zudem she is a frequent guest star on television series. So she appeared in Ally McBeal, Will & Grace and Queer as Folk. They also had several minor roles in the series The Nanny, where she sang the taxi driver Cozette and himself played. From 2006 to 2008 she appeared in four episodes of the hit series Nip / Tuck.

Besides her work as an actress and presenter she is also a producer of TV shows, such as the mission of the Tony award Awards.Von 2006 to 2007 she was co-presenter in the U.S. talk show The View. On October 10, 2011, a new season of her talk show "The Rosie Show" launched at the television station OWN ( Oprah Winfrey Network).

Private life

O'Donnell has five children, four of whom are adopted. The fifth was taken by her former partner Kelli Carpenter to the world. She is close friends with pop star and actress Madonna, with whom she has the film A class rotated for themselves.
