The nuclear power plant Rostov ( [ listen? / I] russian Ростовская АЭС ), meanwhile nuclear power plant Wolgodonsk ( [ listen? / I] russian Волгодонская АЭС ), is a nuclear power plant in Russia. It is about twelve miles from the city Wolgodonsk located at Zimljansker reservoir. It is located about 120 kilometers east of Rostov-on- Don in Rostov Oblast.

The nuclear power station currently has one reactor in operation with a net capacity of 950 megawatts ( MW ), a second reactor was completed in December 2009.

History

The construction of the first nuclear reactor was started on 1 September 1981. The second reactor block was followed on 1 May 1983.
