Roswitha Steiner

Roswitha Steiner, married Stadlober, ( born June 19, 1963 in Radstadt, Salzburg ) is an Austrian former alpine skier and politician.

Biography

It belonged in the 1980s to the world's best slalom racers. Initially, she started also in the giant slalom. Her first World Cup victory in 1983, she celebrated the slalom of Waterville Valley (USA). This victory made ​​them seven more to follow in the coming years. In 1986, she won the slalom World Cup for the first time thanks to four wins this season in Sestriere, Maribor, Saint- Gervais- les- Bains and Waterville Valley.

At the 1987 World Championships in Crans -Montana, she won the silver medal behind the Swiss Erika Hess in the slalom. Gold was at that time within the possibilities. It was after the first run with more than one second ahead far in advance, but was caught just in the second run of an unfettered Hess. In its last season in 1988 she was again victorious in slalom World Cup. Then she announced her departure.

Roswitha Steiner is married to the former world-class cross-country skiers Alois Stadlober. The Austrian cross-country skier Teresa Stadlober is her daughter.
