Rudolf Christ

Rudolf Christian ( born March 20, 1916 in Vienna, † April 20, 1982 ) was an Austrian singer in the vocal range Tenor.

Life

Christian began his career in 1939 as a chorister at the Vienna Volksoper, then studied for three years at Adolf Vogel in Vienna. In 1941 he debuted as a soloist at the State Theatre Innsbruck and worked 1946-49 at the Stadttheater Zurich as a lyric tenor and operetta singer. In 1949 he returned to the Vienna Volksoper, where he remained until his retirement in 1976 Cast Member. In addition, Christian was engaged at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 1956, gave numerous guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera, as well as in big theaters in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. Since 1955, he has performed several times at the Salzburg Festival, among others as Jaquino Fidelio in 1958.

His tomb is located on the Grinzinger cemetery in Vienna ( group 1A, row 1, number 2).
