Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck

The Tyrolean State Theatre is in Innsbruck, close to the historic old town, surrounded by Hofburg, Hofkirche, courtyard garden and SOWI Faculty of the University of Innsbruck. Right next to the chamber Games Innsbruck stand ( New City Hall, former Casineum ).

The large house holds about 800 seats and the Chamber games in the basement around 250 the schedule are: drama, opera, operetta, musicals and dance theater.

Architectural History

Old Comedihaus, Court and City Theatre

It was converted in 1629 by architect Christoph Gumpp the younger ball from one of the playhouses at the track to a Comedihaus - the big stage of the Archduke Leopold. 1654 a new built by Christoph Gumpp house was opened on the other side of the race route and indeed exactly where today's State Theatre stands. 1765 the Court Theatre was renovated. The Innsbruck theater was called the Bavarian occupation in 1805 shortly Royal Bavarian Court National Theatre. In 1844 it was closed due to disrepair.

New Tyrolean State Theatre

A theater company was constituted and brought 40,000 florins for a new building on. The new house was opened in 1846. From the Innsbruck city theater was 1945/46, finally the Tyrolean State Theatre. In 1959 the chamber Games were opened in the basement of the city hall building. The Tyrolean Provincial Theatre ( Large House ) was closed in 1961 and rebuilt in the following years and significantly expanded. 1967, the Big House was reopened. 1991/92 standing next chamber games have been renovated and converted into a flexible space theater.

In 2003, the new sample stage was designed by the architect Karl Probst and from Munich, completed as an extension to the Big House. The State Theatre corresponds with its three venues the requirements of a modern stage operation and ensures that continue to take place in Innsbruck ambitious designed theater. As a final construction, the facade of the State Theatre was renovated and the new forecourt.

Fondation

With the establishment of the State Theatre Innsbruck and Orchestra GmbH Innsbruck 2005 has been achieved the political goal of creating a holding company event. In the financing of the allocation key between town and country in favor of the city of Innsbruck was adapted ( 55:45 - this corresponds to a discharge of the municipal finances of more than 700,000 euros each year ).
