Rudy Demotte
Rudy Demotte ( born June 3, 1963 in Ronse ) is a Belgian politician of the Parti Socialiste (PS). At the federal level, it was business and science minister and later health and social affairs minister. He's since the summer of 2007 Prime Minister of the Walloon Region and the French Community since 2008 also Prime Minister. Both offices he has held after the regional elections in 2009 continue.
Curriculum vitae
Demott comes from simple conditions and is the son of a Walloon father and a Flemish mother. He grew up in the Walloon municipality Flobecq and in the Flemish Brakel. It is therefore also of the Dutch powerful.
He studied political science and international relations at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB ). He received his diploma in 1986 with a thesis on the history of the Belgian Workers' Party ( Parti Ouvrier Belge fr., nl. Belgian Werkliedenpartij ) in Western Hainaut.
Political career
Demotte made a career within the PS. He was secretary of the Young Socialists from 1985 and from 1986 to 1992 its president. From 1988 to 1990 he worked in the cabinet of Philippe Busquin. He served in the 90 ' years various functions within the Socialist Federation of Ath -Tournai - Mouscron (West - Flanders). He has since become one of the most important socialist politician in Belgium.
In 2010, Demotte was elected chairman of the local section of the PS in Tournai. On this occasion, he announced his intention to fight in the local elections of 2012, at the office of mayor of Tournai.
