Ruggero Berlam

Ruggero Berlam ( born September 20, 1854 in Trieste, † October 22, 1920 ) was an Italian architect.

Life

Ruggero Berlam was born as the son of the architect Giovanni Andrea Berlam. After Berlam had broken his musical studies, he turned increasingly to the art and architecture. In the Accademia in Venice, he became a student of Giacomo Franco. Later he moved to Milan, where he was taught in the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera by Camillo Boito. After completing his studies Berlam returned to his hometown of Trieste, to be formed under the leadership of his father, Giovanni Andrea on. Even at this time sat Berlam in Trieste numerous construction projects around as Casa Berlam (1879 ), Casa conducting Castle (1887 ) and Villa Haggiconsta ( 1890). Furthermore Berlam was in neighboring Istria and Friuli active.

Berlam 1884 was a founding member of the Circolo Artistico Trieste artistic circle Trientino. From 1893 he was a member of the city council of Trieste and in the administration of the municipal museum Revoltella active. After 1904 Berlam worked increasingly with his son, the architect Arduino Berlam together. Father and son realized in Trieste, Udine and Parenzo numerous construction projects such as Palazzo Vianello (1904 ), Scala dei Giganti ( 1905-1907 ), the Synagogue of Trieste ( 1906-1912 ) and Palace of the RAS ( 1909-1913 ).

Berlam died in 1920 in Trieste.
