Policy

After the death of his father Clement Bertram Mitford Napier, 5th Baron Redesdale ( 1932-1991 ) he inherited his title and seat in the House of Lords. Through the House of Lords Act 1999, he lost his seat in the House of Lords in 1999. On 18 April 2000 he was in addition to his inherited peerage as Baron Mitford, of Redesdale raised Northumberland in the ( non- hereditary ) nobility and heard so as a life peer again in the House of Lords. However, according to the conventions of the House of Lords it was referring to the description of Lord Redesdale, because this title of nobility is older.
