Russ Adam

Russell Norman Adam ( born May 5, 1961 in Windsor, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach who has played, among others, eight times for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League. His son Luke Adam is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Russ Adam began his career as a hockey player with the Windsor Royals of the Ontario Hockey Association, for which he was active in the season 1977/78. In the same season he stood for the Windsor Spitfires of the OMJHL on the ice. From 1978 to 1981 Adam played three years for their league rivals, the Kitchener Rangers and won with his team the 1981 Memorial Cup. During this time he was also during the NHL Entry Draft in 1980 selected as the 137th overall player in the seventh round by the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the season 1981/82, however, the Canadians played for the New Brunswick Hawks of the American Hockey League before he eight times in the National Hockey League for the Maple Leafs was used in the following season.

After two seasons with the St. Catharines Saints of the AHL, the Fort Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League and the St. John's Capitals from the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League, Adam let his career fade away in Europe, where he spent four years in Germany was under contract. First, Adam played 1988/89 ESV Kaufbeuren, with whom he descended from the Hockey League and finally three years until 1992 when Augsburger EV in the 2nd Hockey League.

After the end of his career as a player Adam worked from 2001 to 2005 a total of four years for the former farm team of his former clubs Toronto Maple Leafs, St. John 's Maple Leafs, in the American Hockey League as an assistant coach.
