Ruth Warrick

Ruth Warrick ( born June 29, 1915 in St. Joseph, Missouri, USA, † January 15, 2005 in New York City ) was an American actress.

Life and work

Warrick began her career as a singer at the radio, but had her breakthrough in the role of Emily in Orson Welles' classic film Citizen Kane. Welles gave her afterwards also the female lead in his next film, blood revenge from the year 1941.

In the 1950s, she turned to television and became increasingly roles in various series and soap operas. From 1956 to 1960 she played the role of Edith Hughes Frey in the soap opera As the World Turns.

In 1970, she took a role in the television series All My Children, which became a great success. For her portrayal of Phoebe Tyler Wallingford, she received several Emmy Awards. She left the series until 1995.

Warrick received, among other things, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004 and another Emmy for her life's work.
