All My Children is an American soap opera that on January 5, 1970 celebrated its premiere in the United States. The last episode of the series ran on ABC on 23 September 2011 at U.S. television. From 1970 to 2011 caused over ten thousand episodes. Early 2013, the series was fashioned from a television series into a web series and will be available as from 29 April 2013, The Online Network via Hulu and iTunes. The idea of the series comes from Agnes Nixon, who is also responsible for the daily soap love, lies, passion, which is also based at ABC. The soap opera is broadcast internationally in South Africa, on the television channel SABC 3. In Germany, the serial was not sent.
In the early years the series aired in 30 minutes in length. In April 1977, the episodes were extended to 60 minutes. The series was first produced in the 1970s by the TV channel AMC and sold to ABC in January 1975. In the 1970s, the television series in the United States had such a high audience rating, that they ranked according to Nielsen ratings as sent daily show to # 1 in 1978/ 1979.
With the death of actress Ruth Warrick in January 2005, only two actors from the early episode from 1970 are currently represented in the show: Susan Lucci and Ray MacDonnell. On 12 November 2008 the soap opera celebrated its 10,000 episode with the appearance of Agnes Nixon on the show and a special tribute to Myrtle Fargate.
