Ryan Huska

Ryan Huska ( born July 2, 1975 in Cranbrook, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach. Since 2007 he has been head coach for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.

Career

After Ryan Huska had started his career at the Trail Selects, he went from 1991 for the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League and won on the ice with the team in 1992, 1994 and 1995, three times the Memorial Cup. During this time, Huska was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the third round at position 76 of the Chicago Blackhawks. By 1995, he was still running for the Kamloops Blazers on the ice and stood in connection two years for the Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League action. During the 1997/98 season, the attacker completed his first and only game in the National Hockey League and went there for the Chicago Blackhawks on the ice.

In September 1998, he signed as a free agent with the New York Islanders, but managed not to jump into the NHL squad the Islanders. The following two years were spent at the Lowell Lock Monsters Huska and Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League. In August 1999, Huska signed as a free player for the Phoenix Coyotes and then found himself again in the minor leagues again. After the 1999/2000 season, he finished his career as an active player.

The Canadians took action after a hiatus of several years to 2002/03 season as assistant coach of the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL and had held this position five years. As the successor to Jeff Truitt, he took over the 2007/08 season leading the team. In the 2008 /09 season he won the Ed Chynoweth team with the Cup.
